According to the US Bureau of labor and statistics, 17% of Americans currently live with a disability. When the ADA was revised in 1990, this represented 43 million Americans.According to “The United States Administration On Aging” report, “Key Indicators On Aging “, by the year 2010, there will be 40.2 million people over the age of 65 living in America, 6.1 million of these will be over the age of 85. Consider the combined numbers and you can estimate 83 Million Americans are living in the realm of aging and disability.
The CHAMP program is designed to provide contractors with information that will enable them to approach the disability and workers compensation home modification market with confidence. This confidence will come from having a better understanding of workers compensation, claims, the parties involved, medical diagnosis, physical disabilities, functional abilities, medical necessity, medical terminology, environmental barriers and home assessments for the disabled.
