Here are five things to help you get back on track :
1) Focus on the destination - When you are lost, focus on where you want to go. Far to often we get caught up on finding blame instead of focusing our energy on things that will provide the greatest results.
2) Take an inventory - With clarity of destination, take an inventory of what has structurally been completed. Make a list of what work remains and have all parties sign off on the list. Track the progress and check things off when completed. Keep the focus on the destination and move on to the next item on the list.
3) Re-Establish relationship with the contractor - Before you rush to have the contractor removed from the job and bring another on, remember it is usually more costly, more time consuming and a much greater task to stop mid stream and start over. Try to re-establish a working relationship with the existing contractor if possible.
4) Re-Assure the insured - Don’t forget that the destination is directly related to the well being of the insured. Keep them and their families aware of the progress. Don’t speak badly about the contractor or cast blame for the issues. Focus on the results.
5) Ask for help - Unless you have experience in dealing with contractors and construction, sometimes it might be best to ask for help. There are companies like the David Corey Company that can help when things go from bad to worse. It might be the wise choice to guide you to your destination safely.
