His basic premise was that the human body is constantly working to confine and limit while the human spirit is constantly seeking freedom. How true! And no one can escape this truth. You can count on it. Fight it as hard as you like, but you are becoming more confined by your physical body each day you live. But the spirit seeks freedom! It is constantly writing checks that our bodies can’t cash. Our spirit has no concept of time, place or ability. It dares us to try to fly even though we don’t have wings. It longs for the experiences of our youth and can’t understand the limits or boundaries under which we live. Disability is when the body can’t achieve what the spirit believes. As healthcare service providers, every day we work with people who have disabilities. Whether for your self or the insureds you serve, there are several things you might want to remember when dealing with barriers.
